I don’t just mean the anti-government faction. I mean the whole underlying technology doesn’t scale. If you want a p2p system like this to scale, you will very likely have to employ technologies that make the entire endeavor inherently risky: you will have to trust the vast majority of nodes to behave, and you can not make any guarantees. When you are dealing with money, that is obviously Not A Good Thing.
There is also literally zero use to blockchain outside of escaping a trusted intermediary, so once you have to trust your intermediaries the whole thing becomes pointless and massively wasteful. Then you are better off trusting Paypal or any other electronic cash service.
